LIPOEDEMA SURGERY DATE REQUEST

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT A DATE REQUEST:

1. If you are ready for surgery, we will be in contact with available dates in your preferred time frame (up to 3-4 months in advance). Whilst we cannot guarantee specific requests for dates we wiill try to work with you. If you are planning surgery in the future SMS checkin links will be sent regularly so you can update us on your readiness for surgery. If your BMI is over 35 we will contact you to discuss options. BMI's over 35 increase surgical risk and need to be planned carefully.

2. A date for surgery will be offered via sms. To accept you must agree to pay the $1500 non refundable deposit, arrange preoperative bloods tests/ecg and arrange a garment fitting appointment within 2 weeks. You will be given access to our surgical app at this stage so you can get ready for surgery.

Your date for surgery is not confirmed until the above actions are complete. Superannuation applications will commence once the surgery date is confirmed. Superannuation applications generally take 6 weeks to process with the ATO and your fund.

If you are not ready for the date offered you can postpone without consequence. Let us know when you would like to have surgery and you will be placed into that time frame.

3. You will see Dr Somia again to discuss the procedure and review your planned areas for surgery. In some cases additional clearance may be needed from specialists such as haematologist, cardiologist or pain specialist. Pre-op consult fee is $300. If surgery is cancelled within 6 weeks of the surgery date 30% of Dr Somia's fee is due.

FOR LEG SURGERY: I understand that if my BMI is above 35 the risk for surgery is much higher and my options will be limited for treatment. If weight loss is difficult it may be possible to perform front only liposuction however this needs to be discussed with Dr Somia. *

I understand overseas travel or special events (ie wedding) are not recommended 2 months before surgery or 3 months after surgery. It is recommended to take 3-4 weeks off work or longer for physical roles. *
